Fourth week

     Last week we were at USHS, CLSU. Monday is the time I will be observed by my cooperating teacher and the SEA Teacher Project coordinator. They will see how I teach and provide assessments on various aspects such as how to open lessons, how to review the material, how to introduce the material to be learned, how to discuss the material, and various other aspects. After the observation process finished, then ended my teaching at that school. The next day I went back to the grade 7 adventurers and 7 explorers for the last time and I said goodbye to these great students for accepting me and have become a valuable part of my life that I will never forget. 
      The next day we are invited to visit some schools with different educational system such as munoz national high school, caanawan high school which is a public school and university agriculture high school that only learn about agriculture. In addition, we also visited the fish museum and fish farming in the College of Fisheries, looking at aquaponic and hydroponics at the College of Agriculture. The next day, we had a farewell with USHS and CLSU, they had received and treated us well while we were in the Philippines. the separation was accompanied by the cries of some of my friends who were so sad when they had to leave the place we considered our second campus and the people we already regarded as our own family.    
     Friday at the fourth week, we are invited on holiday to manila and tagaytay. In manila we visited the Indonesian republic embassy, ​​the Thai embassy, ​​the mall of asia, the largest mosque in Manila and the Enhancted Kingdom. In tagaytay we visited Buddhist temple and Puzzle Mansion Museum in tagaytay which is the biggest puzzle museum in the world which is crowned by guinness world records.

Third week

     In the third week, we are interns required to perform. After a flag raising ceremony on the school grounds, we performed a dance that we only learned for 3 hours. Our dance is very entertaining to all the people who are in school. This third week coincides with graduation held for three consecutive days at CLSU graduation site, so students are closed for three days. On Friday the third week, we invited by the SEA Teacher Project CLSU coordinator for an excursion. Isdaan is one of the restaurants that offers a very interesting place to take pictures. In this place, we enjoy a lot of seafood because of the isdaan in tagalog means fish. After enjoying some of the menu, we went back to CLSU to rest because in the morning we will vacation to Baguio City and La Union Beach. 

     Our trip to Baguio City was amazing. There are many beautiful view during the trip, such as waterfalls, rolling hills, farmland, and beautiful mountain scenery. There are many places we visit During Baguio City like Camp John Way, Mines view Park, Strawberry Farm and Baguio Botanical Garden. 






     The next day, we went to La Union beach. La Union Beach we travel for one hour drive from Baguio City. The sea on La Union beach bordering on the china offers a very beautiful view. In addition, there are many swimming pools around the beach that add to the beauty of the beach.

Second week

     The second week I was at USHS starting by setting up a stage for a literary musical activity with my other interns. The event was a spelling bee, dance, and drama that was attended by grade 7, 8, 9, 10 dan 11. The event took place with great fanfare and demonstrated the extraordinary talents of USHS students. After the activity ends at lunch break, the students return to the classroom to take the lesson. I shocked when know that after the activities, the student continued their studies, because after such an exhausting activity the students remained eager to keep learning.I started teaching in the second week. I was entrusted by the teacher to teach in grade 7 adventurers and 7 explorers. I am very happy to teach great students like them. They welcomed me as the first international teacher to teach them and it made my passion to teach them more and more. I was in school every day from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm and I started enjoying my days teaching in this school.

First week

    After arriving at Central Luzon State University. The first activity I did was we attended the flag raising ceremony and at the same time the campus introduced us as a student exchange participant from Indonesia. After the flag raising ceremony was over, I along with the dean of the College of Education, met with the president of Central Luzon State University in his office, we took some pictures. After the completion of the course we are invited to the College of Education to orientate in order to briefly introduce the profile of the Philippines and the short profile of CLSU. After the lunch break, we were invited to the school that we would be teaching while in the Philippines, the school was called University Science High School (USHS). The school has excellent educational facilities such as cctv cameras, projectors and air conditioners in each classroom, an adequate library and a teacher room with a Wi-Fi network. In addition to the exceptional quality of teachers, most teachers have master degrees, and students who have a very high learning willingness. My first day in school was very heavy because I could not adjust to the school hours that started from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm.
 
     The second day I was at USHS, I was introduced to a cooperating teacher who would guide me while I was in USHS. After that, I was invited by the teacher to enter the class and see how he taught. I was amazed by the teacher, because during his teaching he always uses english and students can understand the material well. My cooperating teacher taught in seventh grade, ten and eleven. He is very good to his students, so his students are very happy if this teacher goes to their class. We were at school until 5 p.m, after which we were allowed to return to the inn. After arriving at the inn, I took a short break and headed straight for the market to buy food supplies and some other necessities for several days.

     The third day I was at USHS, I met with internships at USHS from the College of Education, Central Luzon State University. The first time I met them, I really wanted to get to know them as soon as possible. At that time we were brought together in an orientation at USHS. They are very nice people, they love to joke and often make me laugh. At that orientation, we were introduced to USHS profiles, USHS rules, USHS appraisal methods, and education systems used at USHS. In this orientation I was also assigned to be a co-advisor for class 7 adventurers with two of my other apprentices sir Jezreel and sir rich under Mario's guidance. At that time it was submitted that for apprentices will be placed in AVR room and in that room we get closer and familiar.

Extra information


A. The first time i was appointed by my department as one of delegation to following SEA TEACHER PROGRAMME, i was so exciting because this was my dream while the first time in the university namely go abroad. When i know that I will go to the Philippines, i searched as much as possible information, especially my city and university destination. the information I got that the university I was going to visit had a pretty good rating in the Philippines and the city was dubbed the city of science. I began to imagine the condition of the university that I would find there, and the state of the city that is equally interesting.
After I reached the city of science city of munoz, I witnessed a magnificent view with a stretch of rice fields that are beside the left and right of the highway. I can hardly believe that this wetland is in a city. The first day I was at Central Luzon State University, I needed to adapt to many things, especially food issues and I do not think there would be many friends on this campus. However, it only lasted three to four days, after which I was met with friends of the Filipinos who welcomed me well in the Philippines. they took me around the campus to get rid of boredom and even they helped me to find food that suited my taste. Until the last day I was in the Philippines they always accompany and be a part that I will never forget in my life.

B.  When I meet with my apprentice friends from the College of Education, central Luzon State University at University Science High School in an orientation, I intend to get to know them as soon as possible. I tried to memorize the names of those who numbered fifteen people, and the result within a period of two days I was able to memorize the names and faces of all of them. In addition to increasing my knowledge and improving interaction with them, I asked to teach Tagalog language and every day always ask them and try to communicate with Tagalog even if only one or two words combined with English, it makes them happy and I more eager to learn Tagalog language and make my friends happy.

C.   For activities at Central Luzon State University, the SEA Teacher Programme coordinator has been set up so that we only follow existing programs, such as performance, or excursion to various tourist attractions in the Philippines.

D.    After participating in this program for a month I get a lot of experience and many new things that I first do during this program, such as the first time the plane, the first time abroad, first met with the Filipinos and the people of Thailand , first saw highly sophisticated agricultural technologies at Central Luzon State University in the center, first watched fish nurseries directly at the College of Fisheries, first saw aquaponic and hydroponics management at the College of Agriculture, first saw the remarkable school such as University Science High School with all the progress in various aspects under the auspices of the College of Education, Central Luzon State University, the first to embassy republic of Indonesia in Manila, first saw and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere of peak in Baguio city, the first to Puzzle Mansion Park in Tagaytay, first watch the movie 4D in Enhancted Kingdom and many others. In addition I felt a very rapid development of my English skills and also the science of learning and math is very memorable for me.

USHS Profile


1.      School: General Information and Academic Administration
1.1  School Profile
University Science High School is a science high school located inside the campus of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), in Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija. University Science High School is not included in the Philippine Science High School and is under the College of Education of Central Luzon State University. The University Science High School, established by virtue of the CLSU Board of Regents under the Board Resolution No. 1622 dated June 14, 1976 as a prime school for students who are inclined to pursue science and technology courses which the country needs for its massive and sustaining development programs. In 1978, Board Resolution No. 1780 was passed revising the curriculum and changing the name to Agricultural Science High School as an answer to the clamor for change of the traditional curricular offerings.
Further enrichment of the curriculum was made in 1979 to strengthen the agricultural components and meet the needs of the students who seek admission to Agricultural Institutions of higher learning without prejudice to the original goal of preparing the youth for intensive training in science and technology. The school has opened its doors to interested applicants who qualify through screening by an entrance examination to fill up the limited slot of 80 in the first year level since 1978. Then, include the history of its present name.
1.2  Academic support system
Facilities at university science high school are very adequate. Each classroom has air conditioners, fans, projector, other rooms have LCD TV and outside the room with cctv cameras to improve school security and monitor student activities while in school. In addition the school library is very convenient and provides a very good reference book. Not only that teachers  all also provided equipment such as computers, printers, internet networks and loudspeakers to facilitate and accelerate the performance of teachers in carrying out their duties.

Teaching system in this school, teachers will be given one hour teaching for one class per day. Teachers can use books, PowerPoint or handouts that can allow students to learn the material first before they arrive at school. 1.1  Planning for teaching
The math teacher who teaches this school is planning the lesson well. Before teaching the teacher first provides lesson plan for the next four to five meetings, before entering the classroom, the teacher first solves the problem that will be given to the students as the consolidation of the material to be taught. 5.      Teaching Practice
1.1  Procedures of teaching
The first teaching procedure the teacher enters the class at the appointed time, the teacher reviews the material of the precious meeting then, then the teacher introduce the material to be learned and link it with the real world. After that, the teacher discusses the material and gives some sample questions. At the end of the lesson the teacher together the students concludes the material that has been learned
1.2  Time management and organizing activities
The first 5 minutes the teacher reviews the material that has been learned, the next 5 minutes the teacher introduces the material to be studied, discuss the material about 45 minutes and the last 5 teachers together the students will conclude the material.
1.3  Problem solving
Each material will be accompanied by 4-5 sample questions and for the first example the teacher will complete it first to show students the application of the material that has been studied, after that for other examples given to the students who want to do it in front of the class

Before the lesson begins, the teacher together the students pray first. Then, the teacher asks the students to clean the class from the scattered rubbish and then the students sit properly to receive the lesson

6.      Summary and Suggestions
1.1  Purposes of practicum
The purpose of practicum is to provide teaching experience to prospective students as well as apply the knowledge they have learned during the lecture. In addition, students of prospective teachers will develop their English language skills, so that prospective students know how to learn and teach in different and in order to know the difference in the education system in the destination country and prepare teachers to compete in the international arena.
1.2  Procedures of practicum
Student candidate teacher to observes class for two days, student of teacher candidate do teaching assistant for next three days, then followed by teaching for eight days
1.3  Outcomes of practicum
After doing practicum, student of teacher candidate able to carry out study and learning in class well, student of teacher candidate have better english ability than before, student of teacher candidate know the culture and study teaching habit in destination country, student of teacher candidate know difference of education system in the destination country to be used as a reflection material after returning to the country of origin, the teacher is able to plan and implement the learning well using the English
1.4  The challenges of practicum
Students have different cultures with students in Indonesia so it needs adjustment at the beginning of the meeting. The study time at University science High School starts from 7:30 to 5:00 pm, requiring adjustments because the school in Indonesia starts at 7:00 to 1:00 pm so it requires more stamina to be in this school.
1.5  Overall impression
When I first entered this school, I was surprised by the students who greeted by using English. I feel inferior with my English skills are mediocre. After entering the teachers' room, I was amazed by the various facilities available after hearing the exposure from the principal that university science high school became a favorite in the province of nueva ecija and the students here came from different regions through the selection stage adding to my admiration for this school . When I entered the class to do the observation for the first time I was astonished with the teacher who brought the subject matter with English and the students quite understand with the material that was brought in the English language. When I entered the library, I saw many reference books that we used in college, but in this school the books were used by junior high school and senior high school. In addition, University Science High School has some extra curricular activities that can develop students' interests and talents such as Math Enthusiasts’ Circle (MEC), and Seekers’ Science Club (SSC).
1.6  Suggestion for future improvement
My advice to university science high school, still maintain and it would be better if more enhance ment of  the quality education owned so as in addition to creating graduates who are able to compete nationally University Science High School can also be the best quality in the Philippines
